The Reverend Dr. Alan W. McBride and his spouse Karen have been here serving at OBUMC since June, 2007.  Following the 13 year appointment of the Rev. Richard Brooks has afforded Alan a smooth transition.

Alan and Karen have three children who are very active in their school, sports, and at church.  Will, 16 yrs. old is a junior at Gulf Shores High School and plays soccer for the Varsity team.  Laura is a ninth grader and is busy with school work and with playing school volleyball and others sports.  Ally, the youngest, is a sixth grader who spends her spare time playing with our two dogs and playing youth level sports.

Alan received his Bachelor of Arts in History and English from Asbury College in 1988 and his Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary in 1993.  In 2000, Alan engaged in a Doctorate of Ministry from Beeson Divinity School at Samford University.  He completed his Doctorate in 2006 with a new view on organizational design in leading churches.

An ordained Elder since 1995, Alan has pastored in Troy, AL, Opp, AL, Camden, AL, and Selma, with numerous Youth Ministry assignments through college and seminary.

Alan writes "Karen and the kids and I love it here at Orange Beach.  The kids are doing great in their endeavors and I find a great thrill to see God moving so powerfully through our church!"
