Jonathan began his role as a staff member here at OBUMC in April of 2009.  Jonathan’s duties include creating and coordinating special events and fellowship events, assisting with development and production of Christian education and discipleship programs as well as managing all aspects of our facilities.

Prior to being a staff member he served this church as a volunteer on the Bright Beginnings Board, Nominations Committee, Worship Committee and the Nurturing Committee where he began fellowship dinners in 2006.  Jonathan’s first volunteer service to OBUMC was with the upstart of the contemporary praise team and worship service along with two other church members who are very dear to him.  Jonathan is a Certified Lay Speaker and enjoys teaching and preaching when afforded the opportunity.  Jonathan continues to volunteer as a Sunday school leader, children’s church facilitator, and as a member of our contemporary praise team.

In the past Jonathan has been a small business owner, executive chef, restaurant manager and even a backcountry kayak guide in the Florida Keys. Currently Jonathan is in his junior year at the University of South Alabama, and is an Elementary Education major.  Jonathan was raised by his two best friends and parents in Pinson, Al, a suburb of Birmingham.  He has a nine year old sister named Peighton, whom he adores greatly. Jonathan lives in Orange Beach with his wife Debra who is currently earning a Master of Divination from Hood Theological Seminary. Together they have two children, Sullivan (Sully) who is beginning the second grade in the fall, and very well may be the coolest child ever and Jack who is a year and a half old and spends most of his time laughing and smiling. 

Jonathan considers his ministry here at OBUMC to be one of the greatest blessings of his life thus far and looks forward to a life of ministry in the United Methodist Church
