Joining the fellowship of OBUMC in the fall of 2007, Laura has been voluntarily serving in the area of Children’s Ministries since spring of 2008.  She leads a team of dedicated volunteers that provide programs and services to the preschoolers and children of OBUMC and their families.  Some of the programs available are Sunday School, FaithWeaver Friends and Children’s Choir each Wednesday during the school year, and Sprouts Preschool Choir.  There are also special events throughout the year including, but not limited to, Vacation Bible School, Terrific Tuesdays, Annual Easter Egg Hunt and Santa Celebrates Jesus.

Laura came to know Jesus as a first grader in Vacation Bible School at Golden Springs Baptist Church in Anniston, AL where she was born and raised.  She spent many summers working with children there at the church and on mission trips.  During her years in college, Laura worshiped at Lakeview Baptist Church in Auburn, AL and spent the summer of 1996 in New York, NY serving as a missionary thru the Southern Baptist Home Mission Board.

Laura earned a Bachelors Degree in Family and Child Development and a Masters in Community Agency Counseling, both from Auburn University.  She enjoys working with all ages of children and providing them opportunities to learn about and serve Jesus.  Her life verse is

Laura lives in Orange Beach with her husband, Mike, and daughter, Madison, who will be starting kindergarten in the fall of 2009.
