Children: Our Nursery is located in the Sanctuary building on the wing closest to the Brook’s Center and the breezeway connecting the two. The Nursery is open for both services on Sunday mornings and during Wednesday night supper beginning at 5:30. The Nursery is available to children from newborn to 36 months. After that, we have children’s church that meets on Sunday mornings to give an age appropriate lesson for our young members and visitors.
Cry Room: For parents who would like to have their children with them during the late service in the Sanctuary, we do have a Cry Room located in the front Narthex. There we have rocking chairs, a couch, an intercom and a viewing window so you don’t miss any of the message.
Listening Aid: Should you need it, there are listening devices available in the main Sanctuary Narthex for your use.

Frequently Thought Questions

What’s the worship like at OBUMC?
Well, that depends a lot on which service you go to. Our 8:30 contemporary service has a live band usually playing a keyboard, guitars, and drums. We sing a mix of new songs and old hymns with the lyrics projected on a big screen. We believe that every person should worship in a way that brings them closer to the Lord, so if this means raising your hands, closing your eyes, doing a jig or standing perfectly still, you’ll fit right in. At our 10:30 traditional service, you’ll hear for the most part hymns from the United Methodist Hymnal played on a piano and organ, led in worship by our choir
What will I do with my kids?
Children are welcome in BOTH worship services! No matter the age we’ve got you covered. OBUMC has a great nursery with both paid staff and volunteers so we can always make sure there are plenty of people to watch the children from newborns through 36-months. Or if the nursery isn’t for you, we have a cry room located in the back of the Sanctuary during the 10:30 services so parents can listen and watch the service but where they don’t need to worry about their children bothering anyone. For kids too old for the nursery we have Children’s Church that meets about halfway through the service and is for kids up to 2nd grade. There the kids will play games and learn about God while you can worship. Kids above 2nd grade generally stay with the adults in the service.
What should I wear?
At Sunday services you’ll see people in jeans and a t-shirt as well as suits and everything in between. Come in what makes you comfortable and let us get to know the inside you.
What’s the environment like?
We try to have a relaxed environment with some pretty comfortable seats where you can focus on worship and the message. At our 8:30 service, feel free to bring your coffee into the Brooks Center with you. At the later service we ask people to keep the drinks outside the Sanctuary.
